The characters took me back to my high school creative writing, when everyone who was young was beautiful and clean but in inner turmoil. The plot, barely even hinted at early on, is abruptly thrust upon the reader, and then completely overworked. The old sales adage applies – if you confuse them you lose them. The ending of the book comes upon you as abruptly as the plot and is almost missing, as if the author ran out of pages – there is neither the cliffhanger necessary for a second book, nor the satisfying end required to bring closure.
Having said that, it was entertaining and, for the most part, a fairly easy read. I think the demographic for this book is far younger than I, though. Perhaps teens would enjoy it a lot more.
