Hi I'm Trish and I am an avid reader of just about every genre. I have just finished Ian McEwan's Atonement. The film was a fair adaptation but of course the book fleshed out all the little nuances that don't come across in the film. I have also read The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, both highly absorbing. I must confess I am a fan from way back of Ian Rankin and wonderful Rebus.

Hey there..even I read both The Kite Runner and The Thousand Splendid Suns recently...Loved both of them of course! (although I personally felt The Kite Runner was much deeper and gripping as far as central characters go), but nevertheless both Khaleed's books do strike a cord with the reader...And thanks for mentioning Atonement. I saw the movie (haven't read the book yet) and you've highlighted exactly what I was afraid of, i.e the book being better than the movie, which happens with almost every adaptation...watch kite runner movie and you'll notice the same thing...I think those are for the viewers who haven't read the books, as they have got nothing they can compare the screenplay to...

Hi Trish, welcome to Booktagger. I really enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns too. I supose I'll read The Kite Runner one day too. I've also heard the move Atonement is good. I'll have to add the book to my ever growing to-read list. I'm not familiar with Ian Rankin's other books though.

If you like a good yarn about an old style detective set in wonderful Edinburgh, a guy who does it his way to the chagrin of his supervisors, a rumpled everyman, you'll enjoy Rebus.
Cheers
