Hi Alison,
Currently I'm reading Good Murder by Robert Gott. It's an Aussie satire set in a small QLD town during early WWII. Loving it so far. It was recommended to me by one of my colleagues.

So satire is a favourite?
Have you read Vernon Godlittle? Satirical novel about a murder set in deep Texas? I know a few people have tried the book, it's not everyone's taste per say but it's quite good if you perservere with it!
I have so many books I can't decide what to read next. . .I don't normally read sci-fi/fantasy novels but I think I'm going through a phase haha. . I'm leaving towards The Star Book by Ben Okri or I might go the classics and read Jane Eyre.

Hi Jane,
Jane Eyre is a fantastic novel if you love classic love stories. One of my all time favorites; amazingly written. I'd certainly recommend it.

: 0 ) With a user name such as LeBard I feel sure that classics would have been a favourite with you!
Alas I'm still wading through the His Dark Materials trilogy (I've almost finished the last book) and have Jane Eyre ready to go the minute I finish the last page!
Have you read Dracula? Gothic horror is always a fave with me!

I'm actually reading Dracula in emailed installments. I absolutely adored the first few chapters and then lost interest when the focus shifted to England. I found it a chore to read that part. Just wasn't as interesting as the Jonathan journal entries.
To answer your earlier question, no satire isn't a favourite of mine. I find it difficult to find comedy done well in books so I leave that to youtube. I've read a lot of fantasy when I was young, a bunch of horror and most recently some trashy crime. My favourites would have to be anything by James Clavell. Because of him I've fallen in love with Japanese set novels so I'm on a mission to read as many before a new fab sets in.

Hi George!
Yes it's still AR haha I just figured I had a user name of Jane Eyre, may as well update the profile!!
If you like Japanese novels. . .you should try the Tales of the Otori trilogy. Can't remember who they're by off the top of my head but the titles include Across the Nitingale Floor, Grass for His Pillow, The Cry of the Heron, etc. .
They're kind of like Japanese mythology, I've only read Across the Nitingale Floor and loved it, but others have told me the rest of the books are fabulous

Mmm, I've read Across the Nightingale Floor. Those books are by an Australian female author from memory. She just released a new one. Did not pick up any of the other ones so it might be time for me to revisit that series.
Jeremy, the blurb for that book sounds interesting. Will definitely have to give it a go. Thanks.

Since we're on the topic of Japanese authors... I've heard Haruki Murakami is a great writer. I haven't read any of his novels yet. Someone I work with recommended "Kafka on the Shore" ( http://www.booktagger.com/node/606 ).

Hi Lebard
I bought his novel, After Dark, the other day. . .it looks sensational!
All about chance meetings when a couple miss the last train home one night. . .
